Andinet
From Chemical Spill Response
In December 2003, the container ship the Andinet, lost 3 containers while on route from Antwerp to Bremerhaven. These containers housed 630 drums containing a highly toxic wood preservative. A fourth container with the same cargo was damaged on deck and 63 drums were lost.
On arrival in Bremerhaven, 50 drums on deck as well turned out to be damaged, and their contents lost.
Search operations for the lost packages, were difficult and had to be ceased repeatedly due to bad weather conditions.

The 3 containers were located and retrieved. Search operations for the drums remained unsuccessful.
