From Chemical Spill Response
From the point of the responder, it is important to classify HNS incidents in order to quickly determine the type of response needs, not only for spills released in the marine environment, but also for the ships in distress situations where HNS substances are involved. In order to establish such a classification system, a number of HNS incidents have to be analyzed.
Case studies of ‘distress situations’ with ships which resulted in spills or near-spills of HNS have been were gathered for statistical analysis.
