Diving services
From Chemical Spill Response
Underwater operations where diving teams are required include:
- Survey of ship’s bottom, hull, rudder, or propeller.
- Patching, plugging or temporary repairs: One of the first steps in reducing impact on the marine environment is to reduce the outflow. Patching or plugging the leaking hole is therefore one of the solutions.
- Welding, cutting
- Photo, video survey
- Seabed survey
- Recovery of cargo, bunkers etc.: special techniques have been developed to remove the bunkers or cargo from sunken vessels e.g. hot-tap technology, which guarantees a spill free removal of any contained fluid either above or under water.
- Underwater repairs: before a ship is permitted to enter a harbour, it must be stable. Sometimes repairs at sea are required to achieve the stability necessary to proceed to harbour or with the voyage.
