Evaporation / Dissolved

From Chemical Spill Response
Jump to: navigation, search

Since a correlation exists between the vapour pressure and solubility of a floating substance , estimates can be made of the total amount of product that evaporates and dissolves after the substance has been released onto the watersurface. The diagram shows this by moving the dot of solubility and/or the vapourpressure in the diagram.

\(E=100-\left(\dfrac{109,7}{1+0,35\dfrac{P^{0,71}}{S^{1,09}}}\right)\)

\(D=\left(\dfrac{109,7}{1+0,35\dfrac{P^{0,71}}{S^{1,09}}}\right)\)

In which;

E amount evaporated (%of weight)

D amount dissolved (% of weight)

P vapour pressure (Pa)

S solubility (kg/m3)
