Slick transport

From Chemical Spill Response
Jump to: navigation, search

Transport of a floating chemical substance is assumed to be similar to that of oil. For the transport of oil many empirical formulas have been developed over the years. The most intuitive and simple approach is simply adding up the vectors of wind speed and current

The empirical wind drift factor ยต is generally assumed to be between 3 and 3.5% (0.03 and 0.035). Figure66 gives visual representation of vector addition
